My Angel

You were there

when I needed you the most

Even though I could not see

And with my prayers I prayed each night

Three kisses I sent to you

With all my breath from me

With your love strengthening my soul

you gave me the voice to speak

When I blamed the whole world for my pain

You were the only one who heard my pleas

You cried the tears I could not shed

As I hid from questioning eyes

You kept me alive when I felt dead

Your arms holding me through the fight

And as I held my breath

with each unwanted touch

Your strength made me bold

And where my childish fears still lived

In night terrors still untold

You were the one who lit the candle

As I stumbled thru the darkness

Till I found the light

And when I saw

You in front of me

All was made right

You kept me on the right path

Without you in my life

I would have lost my way

You were there when I

needed you the most

And with me you will stay
